Eugene and Elizabeth may have been married in France. According to family lore, they came to New Orleans to flee oppression against the royal family. Bonnet", 45, also born in France, Eugene Bonnet, 19, a clerk, born in LA, and Auguste, 16, also a clerk, born in LA. Eugene ran a dry good store at 250 Royal, New Orleans, in 1832. In 1842, "Auguste Bonnet" is a grocer living near Franklin & Bienville Sts. In 1852, Eugene is listed as living at 29 Love St. In 1853 and 1854, Eugene and his two sons, E.L.E and and Pierre Auguste Bonnet are living at 29 Love St. E.L.E. is apparently running Eugene's dry goods business. By 1856, Eugene has moved to the corner of St. Bernard and Prieur. Auguste remained at 29 Love St., while E.L.E. has moved in with his in-laws, the Bernards, at 44 Love St. In 1861, Eugene is now a bookkeeper.
