Douglass's headstone says "Douglass Roben", but in the 1850 census, it's written as Douglas N. The headstone says he was born on Jan 26, 1850, but the 1850 census, taken on Dec 12, has him as 4 months old.
Douglass died possibly when he was 10, but the headstone was unclear and he may have died when he was 30 in 1880. The 1880 census had a child, Charles Roben, living with Walter and Elizabeth Roben and listed as a grandson. This probably means that Douglass died in 1880, was married, and was the father of Charles. |
